Don't Forget to Clean the Engine

Just like your vehicle’s exterior, your engine will get dirty. Even though you may rarely see your engine, it also needs care and attention to keep it clean.

The dirty mist that's kicked up on winter roads and makes your exterior dirty is also inhaled into the engine through the carburetor. Most of the dirt is filtered out by the air filter, but some of it gets in the air intake and combines with the gasoline in the combustion chamber. If this mixture is dirty, it results in a less than clean burn and the dirt is left on the cylinder walls.

Oil helps clean these parts of the engine but, in time, the oil gets dirty too, which is when it needs to be changed. Spring is the perfect time for an oil change, and is also a time when you should check and replace your air filter if needed. The result will be a vehicle that is well maintained, runs better and lasts longer. If you keep your receipts from this loving care, you can show them to the next owner who will appreciate the attention you have put in. It may even result in a higher value for your vehicle.
